As expected, Apple used its Glowtime iPhone 16 launch event to introduce the Apple Watch Series 10.
That’s right, Apple decided not to use an ‘X’ like the Roman numeral as it did for the iPhone X and Mac OS X.
With what Apple is describing as a completely new design, it’s the thinnest Apple Watch ever with the largest display on an Apple Watch with a brand-new processor, too.
Let’s take a look at all the Apple Watch Series 10 details.
When will the Apple Watch Series 10 be released?
You can pre-order the Apple Watch Series 10 from today and the smartwatch will go on sale 20 September.
Apple didn’t announce the Apple Watch Ultra 3, but a Satin Black edition of the Ultra 2 instead.

- Apple Watch Series 9 – September 2023
- Apple Watch Series 8 – September 2022

What are the Apple Watch Series 10 new features?
For the Apple Watch Series 10, it’s the design and screen that are the major changes from previous generations.

Apple
At 9.7mm it’s the thinnest Apple Watch yet and the new design has been made possible in part by making internal components smaller. This includes the speaker which is 30% smaller and can now play music if you forget your AirPods.
Also part of the updated design is a metal back which contains the antenna and the device is still 50m waterproof. The Series 10 is Apple’s first carbon-neutral smartwatch.
The regular aluminium Series 10 comes in a range of colours including, for the first time, a polished black edition called Jet Black.

Apple
You can also get the Series 10 in a Titanium (grade 5) model in either Natural, Gold, Slate Grey, with updated bracelet watch straps to match. These also have a special watch face that moves slightly when you move.

Apple
Moving onto the screen and it’s even bigger than either Apple Watch Ultra and 30% bigger when compared to the Series 6. It means a whole extra line of text is possible. This is the 46mm model but you can also get it in a smaller 42mm version.
Apple says it’s covered in Ion-X glass which extends further down the sides of the case for a more immersive experience.

Apple
Under that glass is Apple’s first wide-angle OLED panel which is 40% brighter when viewed from an angle. The Series 10 display also has a 60Hz refresh rate for a smoother experience.
Other improvements include the charging department, and with the fastest charging on any Apple Watch, the Series 10 can top up to 80% in 30 minutes. Battery life is rated at 18 hours.

Apple
Inside the Series 10 is the S10 running watchOS 11 with features such as water temperature and custom swim workouts.
The device can also supposedly detect sleep apnea – a feature that will also be rolled out to Series 9 and Ultra 2. It doesn’t have FDA approval yet but Apple promises this will come soon.

Apple
Apple still hasn’t mentioned the availability of Apple Intelligence AI on Apple Watch. As you can see in the graphic above, it merely mentions ‘intelligence’ for features like fall detection and translation.
