It’s a sad day in many ways but Fitbit has confirmed that it won’t make any more smartwatches meaning the Sense 2 and Versa 4 will be the last ones ever made.
The simple reason is that the Pixel Watch range exists, and Google is focusing its efforts on that. Instead, the Fitbit brand (owned by Google if you didn’t know) will only make fitness trackers.
Speaking to Engadget, senior director of product management for Pixel Wearables Sandeep Waraich said, “Pixel Watch is our smartwatch part of the portfolio,” confirming that everything from Fitbit going forward will be ‘minimalistic, long-lasting trackers’ the firm is well-known for.
A Google spokesperson confirmed, “Pixel Watches are our next iteration of smartwatch for Fitbit.”
After all, the Pixel Watch 3 isn’t the first Google smartwatch to come with integrated Fitbit smarts.

Waraich added, “trackers is where users clearly tell us they want something discreet. They want longer battery life, they want a simple experience and we are very proud of our Inspire line.”
The Sense 2 and Versa 4 are a lot cheaper than the Pixel Watch 3 but you can still buy the Pixel Watch 2 at a lower price now. They remain on sale for the time being if you should want to save a little bit of money and prefer a square design.
The next Fitbit could well be the Inspire 4 then, with Waraich specifically mentioning that range.
The Inspire 3 arrived back in September 2022 so we could see a replacement in the coming weeks if it’s on a two-year refresh cycle.
Many fans would also be keen to see a Charge 7 as the new flagship tracker, but the Charge 6 was a more recent release in September 2023 so is less likely.
